Missionaries to the Deaf in the Dominican Republic
Harvest Deaf Ministries was established by the vision of Dr. Reginald (Reggie) Rempel.
As international Deaf representative of BIMI (Baptist International Missions Incorporated) for many years, Dr. Rempel had a vision for a school that would train the Deaf to serve the Lord in Christian ministry. "Training the Deaf to reach the Deaf for Christ." His vision became a reality in the spring of 1994 with the purchase of approximately 14 acres of land in the North Georgia area and BIMI Deaf Bible Institute was begun.
During the third year, the BIMI Deaf Bible Institute was changed to the BIMI Deaf Bible College. Since then, there has been a complete renovation the the buildings and property including a dining hall, boys dormitory and the old barn which now houses the library, offices and the Lee Roberson Chapel. The ministry continued to grow and in 1998 Harvest Christian Academy for the Deaf was added and then in 2000 Harvest Baptist Church for the Deaf.
In the winter of 2001, the BIMI Deaf Bible College, at the encouragement of both BIMI headquarters and supporting pastors, changed its name to Harvest Deaf Bible College. All three are now under the umbrella of Harvest Deaf Ministries, Inc. Future plans include an additional dormitory building and a gym as well as the construction of a new school building. Please pray for the continued growth and outreach of this great work for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
